Looking back

For our History class, we were told to do a metacognition exercise to look back on what we’ve done since the lockdown began.

  1. done
  2. These are the three activities that helped me learn the most about the beginning of the Cold War:

3. I think I could’ve done better at the test. I didn’t work that well since I rushed to finish before the timer ended and I think that I could’ve expanded more in some questions if I hadn’t.

4. a) I would rate my attendance to class a 9/10 since I attended every class, participated whenever I could and I believe I worked really well both individually and in group work. However, once I couldn’t participate in a meet because I was having some issues with my wifi. b) I would rate the quality of my work a 9.5/10 since I believe I did really good in classwork both individual and grupal. However, in the test I didn’t do as well as in the other activities.

Virtual Learning Experience

In the last weeks we had to learn virtually because of the quarantine. I found the first week really hard but then I got used to it and even if I don’t like having to learn from my house and I miss school, at least I find tasks easier now. The only app we’ve been using that I didn’t know is GoogleMeet but I was able to understand it easily. When I’m at home I study in the desk I’ve got in my room. This is my favorite spot for working since I’ve got my computer and several sockets to charge my devices. I use the computer for typing most of my work, my phone to check handing and my IPad to use GoogleMeet since my computer’s microphone doesn’t work well at all.

My reflection on this situation is that it is great how both teachers and students are determined to keep on working in spite of all the difficulties we’re facing and how even if we’re not at school we still manage to learn a lot.

Writings

In the past three weeks, we’ve been having online classes because of the Coronavirus, these are some writings we did during these weeks. One of them was written and we had to record the other one.

Writing about a festival which takes place in Argentina:

Lollapalooza

The Lollapalooza is a music festival which takes place in several places worldwide including Buenos Aires, Argentina. In Argentina, the festival is held every year in late march.

Thousands of people love dressing up in their most scandalous outfits to go to the Lollapalooza to listen and dance to their favorite artists for hours.

People get their tickets in order to go a certain amount of days (the festival usually lasts 3 days in Argentina) and spend the whole day there. What people usually do is listen to their favorite artists and dance. Most of the people who go there are teenagers and young adults who enjoy partying with their friends and meeting new people.

The Lollapalooza was created in the United States 1991 and it was inspired by several british music festivals. The first year, it wasn’t really popular so the only music that was played was alternative rock, industrial music and rap. However, with the years more and more people started being into it and more artists started performing. Thanks to this, the Lollapalooza is now a worldwide music festival where loads of famous artists perform many different kinds of music.

Summary of the Gold Cadillac: https://voca.ro/50zsQcTmsrF

The Gold Cadillac

Our language teacher told us to read a story called “The Gold Cadillac” and answer some questions about it. This is the work I did.
Imagine you were Lois or Wilma in The Gold Cadillac, how would you have felt if something similar happened to you while driving your own car?
I think i would have been shocked about how ignorant the white officers were since they thought a black man couldn’t be able to afford a golden cadillac even if he worked for it.
How would you react?
I would have been really scared so i wouldn’t have said anything to the officers.
Can you think of any similar forms of discrimination nowadays? Do we have any similar racial prejudices against any groups? Write a paragraph establishing a parallelism. (90 words). Post these answers as a post in your blog. Choose a cover for the story and post it as well.

I think one of the biggest acts of discrimination nowadays are towards muslims and most of the times we prejudge them unconsciously. A clear example that happened to many people and is actually awful to think about is when people see a muslim person wearing a backpack in public and think they have a bomb or that they are terrorists or whatever. I believe that thinking that about someone we don’t even know is terrible because we are judging them based on what we see on the knew about only a few people in their community. Similarly, the officers judge ‘Lois family because they thought black people were criminals who barely earned money and stole whatever they wanted but couldn’t afford.

If I had to choose a cover for this story i would choose this one because it shows a black family just driving their car as told in the story and even if they look happy they deep down know that white people are judging them.
